The Power of Language
The theme for Black History Month at Wyvil this year is ‘The Power of Language’. Pupils across the school have been exploring the importance of words in speeches, songs and quotes. We were delighted to welcome the renowned story teller Sandra Agard on Friday 10th October to lead workshops and perform in our assemblies. She was inspirational as always and thoroughly enjoyed working with our pupils.
Our ‘Power of Language’ themed Black History Month has been a great success this year. Pupils shared their work with the school community in assemblies on Wednesday and Friday. As well as studying important elements of the history curriculum our pupils demonstrated their understanding through music, art, poetry, dance, animation, philosophy lessons and speech writing. Pupils throughout the school gained a better understanding of the power that language has to effect positive change.
