First Lego League 2014
For the third year running Wyvil have participated in the First Lego League tournament. This year we paired up with Vauxhall Primary to create our team. The theme was 'World Class'. The project task was to identify an aspect of learning and to develop an innovative way of supporting it. The team considered lots of different ideas and agreed that preparing for tests and exams was something that they all needed help with. They wanted to create YouTube videos as they felt that this was the easiest way to learn new ideas and concepts. The team then split into pairs and developed an acronym that related to a set of top tips for preparing for exams. The pairs then created YouTube videos and leaflets to promote their acronym. The group suggested a variety of team names and voted for 'Wyvern Brain Raiders' as their name. The best logo design was chosen to represent the team.
At the tournament the team presented their ideas confidently to the judging panel who were impressed by their design and innovation. During the robot challenges the team performed consistently and their strategy of focussing on just a few achievable challenges paid off.
During the end of day presentations the Wyvern Brain Raiders were announced the winners in the design category, and were presented with a trophy. We would like to say a big thank you to Bechtel, who again sponsored the team's participation as well as providing volunteers to mentor the team.
